Let’s say you are doing a task A which consists of four actions {a, b, c, d}. These actions in this task are performed once each.

Now, to get perfection you keep on doing this task A : {a, b, c, d}.

Sure, you will definitely gain some betterment.

But, the point is, sometimes doing task A1 : {b, b, b, b} for a while, will strengthen action b so much, that the action b in your task A will start shining.

Similarly, for each individual action to shine from within, we can pick selective tasks that focus on that specific action.

The idea is from tabla compositions. You have a composition that involves multiple bols. So, you practice other specific compositions that focus on specific bols, and in turn, these specific bols start shining in your main composition.

This idea, I think, can work in various other kinds of tasks. It is better to keep in mind this pattern, when thinking of perfection.

It is important to note here, that we do not simply mean by a ‘specific task’, that it should just contain mere repetition of a specific action. Ideally, it should ‘focus’ on the specific action, but also involve some other ‘glue’ actions, so that the task becomes something tangible and justified. And even more ideally, this ‘specific task’ can have its own little utility as well.
